WIAW: Road Trip + Birthday Party!

So I’m writing this on Wednesday morning, as I had a WIAW post all typed up and ready to go earlier on in the week..but when I went to post it this morning it had magically disappeared..still not sure what went on there. Anyways! The eats I’m sharing this week are from Saturday, January 16th when my family and I took a road trip to visit family and celebrate my Grampie’s 80th birthday! Lots of tasty treats went down this day – you’re in for a good one!

Breakfast: We left fairly early (for a Saturday) so I brought some snacks along as my breakfast. I munched on grapefruit, Oh She Glows Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls and drank some good old milk for protein! And of course, coffee.

Lunch: We made a pit stop for lunch in a small town and ate at a cute little restaurant that serves delicious, fresh food. My mom and I split the Peanut Butter Burger with sweet potato fries and it was soooooo good. I’m not sure if Peanut Butter Burgers are a universal thing but they sure are a favourite here in Atlantic Canada.

Snacks: I stayed pretty full for most of the afternoon from lunch, but may have snacked on some chocolates (unpictured) at my cousin’s basketball game that my dad snagged from my grandparents’ place :).

Dinner: We had a reservation with my extended family at a nice pub so we could all share a meal and celebrate my Grampie. We ordered nachos and chicken wings to share for appetizers and I ordered the Pesto/Grilled Veg pizza for my main. I am a huge pesto fan and will order just about anything on the menu if it has pesto.

Dessert: After dinner, we headed back to my aunt and uncle’s house for some cake and treats. The cake was made by a local cupcake company and it was a white cake with chocolate frosting – at my Grampie’s request :). The frosting was super decadent and hard to finish, but so delicious!

We spent the rest of the evening playing games and laughing as a family. Its always a fun time when we get together!

And that’s it! A not so usual day of eats with some yummy treats.

Question of the Day: Do you eat differently on the weekends than during the week? What’s your favourite weekend treat?

Xo,

Han
